Kiwi Fruit: low calories and a lot of vitamin C

Kiwi fruits are one of the best sources of vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin A.  They are also very rich in potassium and beta-carotene as well as minerals and flavonoids.  Kiwi fruits have so much vitamin C that it surpasses oranges in vitamin C content.  With regard to potassium, kiwi fruits have just as much potassium as those found in bananas.
Because of the very high amounts of vitamin C contained in kiwi fruits, they can become a very important aid in the maintenance of your health.  The vitamin C that you get when you eat kiwi fruits can help protect your body from the harmful effects of free radicals.  Regular consumption of kiwi fruits can also radically improve the resistance of your body to many kinds of diseases: from simple illnesses such as cough and colds to more complicated ones such as cancer and many different cardiovascular problems.

Kiwi fruit have also been known as very important facilitators in the fight against obesity and cholesterol.  The high fiber content of kiwi fruit helps to greatly reduce the cholesterol levels of your body thus also reducing your risk of developing any of the many heart diseases that are very common these days and your risk of experiencing minor and major heart attacks.  Furthermore, kiwi fruits can also help improve your condition if you are suffering from diabetes because it can help your body control the sugar levels in your system.  The risk of developing problems regarding the colon such as colon cancer is also greatly reduced with the proper consumption of kiwi fruit in addition to having an overall healthy diet.  The fiber in kiwi fruit helps to bind and to collect the many toxic elements that are found in the colon and cleans them up.  It then helps your body expel them efficiently through your excretory system.
Some medical studies that were conducted in Italy demonstrated that kiwi fruits have many health benefits on the respiratory tract as well.  In the study, it was found that the shortness of breath of the ones given regular servings of kiwi fruit and citrus (about 5-7 servings per week) was reduced by as much as 32%.   Chronic cough occurrence among the subjects was also reduced by almost 25% while night time cough was reduced by 27%.  Most of these benefits have been attributed to the high content of flavonoids in kiwi fruits.  Thus, kiwi fruits can be considered to be very helpful antioxidant agents that can help you protect your body and your cells from the harmful effects of oxidative damage.
